The Great Migration.
The Annual Great Migration

Every year, millions of zebra, wildebeest and other antelope migrate across the mighty plains of East Africa in search of better grazing.
This annual pilgrimage is known as the Great Migration, and to witness it is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that should top the bucket list of every safari enthusiast.
"Tanzania's seasonal changes and great diversity op species both contribute to an epic, one of a kind migratory drama among wildlife"
One of the most spectacular safari experiences, the Great Migration involves over a million wildebeest and hundreds of thousands zebra's moving throughout the year between the Serengeti in Northern Tanzania and the Masai Mara in Southern Kenya.
The animals perform a circular migration of around 1,200 miles moving North between June and October as the dry season in the Serengeti is more pronounced than in the Mara, which is located closer to the Equator and therefore remains wetter and a dry season refuge.
The exact location where the herds are located at any given time depends on the rains, and therefore cannot be predicted with certainty, however, below are some general indications...

A permanent struggle for survival.
From January to February
the animals are in Southern Serengeti in the short-grass plains north of Ngorongoro making it easy to spot the wildebeest, zebras and predators. February and March is the calving season with spectacular predator activity. The young animals are immediately able to move independently, and the herds head west towards Lake Ndutu.
From March to April
during the long rains, the animals follow the lightnings and move to the north, in search of green grazing fields, entering the Serengeti around Seronera, in the direction of Lake Victoria. Between May and June the animals mate and then continue to the north towards the Grumeti River, the crossing of which guarantees a very spectacular sight.

From June to July
he herds are are moving towards the Masai Mara, where they remain during July to October in search of green grazing land. From late October to December they return southward towards Serengeti.
From July to December
The herds remain in the Mara and the northern Serengeti, splitting into groups that cross and re-cross the Mara River until they finally al retreat back south to Ngorongoro.
